Mughal--e-Azam: Timeless magnum opus

Films like Mughal-e-Azam never fade out. At every rerun they will pull the quintessential faithful. It is a colourful bonanza featuring the legendary Prithivi Raj Kapoor, the lovelorn couple of Salim and Anarkali played by Dilip Kumar and Madhubala. History is silent on this side story in the life of Salim who succeeded his father Akbar to adorn the throne of Mughal India.  Prithvi Raj gave a stunning performance in his roaring diction piercing through the larger than life screens of Indian cinema theaters.

Oxford brought its immortal dialogues in a colourful coffee table edition. The film was directed by the formidable K. Asif and its unmemorable dialogues were penned by Abrar Alvi.
