At 18 she had done it all

Chaper 3

If you win Nobel peace prize at 18 and become an global icon what do you do with your life thereafter. Keep doing what you have set eyes on. Her name is Malala and this is her story. She is a Pakistani but lives in Birmingham, England because she is not safe in her country. she has a written her autobiography in a lucid style with the help of the noted journalist Christina Lamb, published by Hachette

She was born and brought up as all girls . Going to school, playing with friends, dancing, painting. But she had an obsession. To get educated. But she was living in close proximity to the most dreaded terrorist outfit called Taliban. Ironically enough Taliban is derived from the root Talib meaning quest. And Taliban means students seeking education. And see what the neighbouring Afghanistan-based killers converted it into. Quest for blood. It has continues for decades. It started off as a small movement and today the whole world is scared of.

Pakistan used this frankestine for its shortsighted goal of settling scores with India. But became a victim of its own creation. Today, it doesn't know what to do. Taliban is not sparing even Pakistan. It attacked a school in Peshawar last year and killed many innocent small students.
Taliban doesn't belong to any one country. It has no specific goal. It is creating havoc in the name of Islam. Even Muslim countries don't know what to do with it. Syria is most affected.

Malala was targeted by this very Taliban because she started a campaign to educate the girls around the world. It was a humanitarian cause but Taliban didn't approve of it and they shot Malala in her head her strong will power saved her. She didn't get cowed down by Taliban. Instead she raised her voice against it abd the world took notice of it. She was given a Nobel Peace Prize in 2012 along with child rights activist  Kailash Satyarthi.
Highly readable book. Must for every girl of her age. It is the storyof one teenager's global campaign. Even Pakistan was forced to reward her with a peace prize.
